Hello. I recently visited an ENT due to a swollen lymph node in my neck. It is approximately 1.5 cm and is on the side slightly behind the ear. He did not seem concerned and prescribed an antibiotic, explaining that it should resolve quickly with this treatment.
I have been on the antibiotic for approximately two weeks and it has not diminished. I am not sure that it has grown any, but it has not gotten smaller. Is it typical for a lymph node to not diminish with anitbiotics and still be nothing to be concerned over? I don't go back to the ENT for another week. I believe he said if it didn't go down he would do a CT scan.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Okay....here are things that would be present if the lymph node is a problem:
associated with an ear ache
it's stone-hard
it's very painful
if the skin around the area is very red
if there's pus coming out of it
if you can't really move it around
if it's associated with hoarseness
if it's associated with problems swallowing.
