Hi everyone,
I haven't watched Oprah in such a long time and this evening I noticed she had a repeat show in the evening. Usually I'm too tired to turn the television on....but I think this may be a good idea for us. What caught my eye was how fantastic she looked. Granted she doesn't have fibro, but she did accomplish a great stride in losing and looking fabulous. I liked the fact she wasn't pushing a particular diet and it seemed rather simple for us fibro sufferers.

1. Exercise- Haven't we heard that before. Ha! But what if we tried to do it together. Meaning, step by step....a little at a time and the support of each other. Regarding the exercise, if we only walked 10 minutes in place inside or outside each day. If we can and feel up to it...increase and do something different, but do something.

2. She has stopped eating white. White sugar, white flour, etc... Let us just start with sugar, simple and many calories. Soda is my big problem! Pick just one thing...make it easy...like candy or cake or chips or soda....

3. 2 1/2 hours before bedtime is her cut off. If you go to bed at 10:30pm....don't eat anything else after 8pm.

We could report in every night....afternoon or morning....the next day...whenever we are feeling up to it. We each tell our story for the day....what little we accomplished....even if we were not able to accomplish. Supporting each other and sharing how one of us may have accomplished "1" of these steps, will enable the rest of us to give it a try. After listening to Oprah and reading the "fat" post....I am motivated. Mind you...I may be the first to say, to tired, hurt too much, just couldn't do it today...but we have to start somewhere. Most of us feel "pretty alone" in this battle. Whether we have children, a husband, honey, friends, family ....it's great to know we have each other and can relate.

Today is Tuesday....let's push for Thursday. Give everyone a chance to read this post and select 1, 2 or 3 of the above.

I'll create a post on Thursday that is short and to the point. "Support each other with 1, 2 or all 3." Of course depending on if anyone would like to do this.

Yea? Nay?

very nice and inspirational post, we all should support each other in making efforts to improve our lives ... and by the way I adore Oprah. However, let's be a little realistic here. Oprah looks so good because she gets personal trainers, massage therapists, all kinds of therapies, very expensive treats and she ends up looking absolutely perfect. She doesn't have to worry about cleaning her house, going to the supermarket, and doing so many boring things that eventually make you feel like crap. All TV and movie people are constantly pampered because they have millions of dollars to spend in anything they want. Oh and Oprah has got LOADS of them believe me. Let's exercise though and be positive, eat healthy and take it easy. cheers.

I gave up white sugar (plus all the other hidden sugars like corn syrup, fructose, etc.) and white flour, cold turkey on December 26th, in hopes of feeling better. I don't crave the sweets now and 10 pounds have come off without any extra effort. I personally feel much better and am going to continue eating this way.

She also exercises 2 hours a day 3 times a week. YIKES!

Oprah started out like all of us. She may not have fibro but she was fat and not very attractive. She didn`t have all the things that money could by when she was young. All the money in the world won`t make a person eat right and exersise if they don`t want to do it.Now i`m not saying it doesn`t help. If i had her money about the only thing I would get is maybe a heated pool so I could exersise. I do not like to exersise so if I had money to have a gym I would not build one its something I don`t like to.I hurt less in the pool type exersise.IF i did have money it might inspire me travel a little more and get away from some of the stress, I might not have to work 50 hrs a week like I do now and that might help. But if i had money and just didn`t want to do anything to make me feel better the money wouldn`t help. Each one of us has the ability to do things that will help us live a longer and healther lives. Then there are those that aren`t as fortunate maybe because lack of money for the right food and meds. Maybe our bodys won`t let us exersise because of pain.
I think we should each get a pencil and paper and every morning write down ehat we can do that day to help make ourselves feel better. Maybe it can be like this.
1.Eat a low fat breakfast
2. Midmorning maybe take a 20 min walk
3 eat tuna sand for lunch
4 mid afternoon grab a fruit and take another 20 min walk in opposite direction.
5.Salad ,Broil chicken or fish, green beans
6. Some time between 7-9 take a 20 min bike ride
7.Take a hot bath light a few candles if u can relax and read in tub try. If not dream of what you would like to do or vacation you`d like to take, Keep mind off anything that would cause stress.
8 Before bed do what uou like to do that relaxes you, read, write.listen to music, watch tv or in my case play on computer.
9 Have a snack that you enjoy and glass of milk
10. have a cosy dim lite room.Paper yourself get alotta pillows to prop on make your bed as soft and snuggly as possible. Let this be your time of night to unwind and reflect on your day your life talk to your God.
After all of this you may not lose any weight and you may still be in pain but it will at least be a start to something. Would anyone like to try this with me? I do work but i can MAKE the time to walk and I can MAKE the time to fix the right food to take to work. Maybe we can exchange simple receipts and other simple things that we do during the day to help relief stress and that usualy helps with pain. Another good thing is stretching exersis and i can get those for a therapst if anyone else would like to work with me and try. I need to lose 10 -15 pounds.I need to feel better let me know. I`m sorry but i`m rammbling now :) thanks for reading........jb......... come on ladies we can do it

You weren't ramblin...but you lost me at chocolate covered tuna or was that tuna covered chocolate...he he

You've got the spirit! Yeah! Good inspiration, that's what we need. I am going through such a crisis at work right now, basically I am being forced out of my job. It's been a nightmare for some time now and I have been in just to much pain from this insane job to look elsewhere. I know, believe I know I will be so much better off when I am out...but do not want to lose it before finding something else. I am looking hard and praying that I find something soon. I have a boss who truly does have mental problems but has been allowed to walk over everyone of us (25.) People are truly afraid of her and get trapped into her control over them. No one works under 10 hours, most of the time 12. The day I find something else it will be one of the happiest days of my life. I have had enough of her screaming and mentally abusing me. She knows of the fibro and that's where it started with me. When she found out she told someone I was an insurance liability waiting to happen...and every since she has been $%@. I truly have never met a meaner person.

Back to the inspiration, I imagine you've guessed by now that she does not inspire me... :) I am trying really really hard to cut away from my soda addiction. I am down to one a day. I have stopped snacking, as of when I first started this post, 3 hours prior to bedtime. No exercise yet....need some motivation ladies. A simple walk?

Thanks ladies....night night :bouncing: :bouncing: :bouncing: Hugs, Annie
