I know its winter so of course most people are going to have dry lips but I have dry lips all the time. Worse in the winter but I also have this horrible habit of picking the dry skin off my lips. I know its a horrible habit but the ironic thing is they are kind smooth afterwards then I use blistex medication on them and they heal well til about the middle of the day. If I dont pick them then apply nothing happens they just get even chapper. Is there any stronger lip medication i could try. I know if i could get them healed i wouldnt pick them anymore but i cnat find anything strong enough. Is there any suggestions i would really love to stop tearing up my lips.

Go get aquaphor! It was recommended by my derm when I was on accutane because of the excessive drying. Its made by Eucerin and its similar in texture to vaseline but its for dry, cracked, chapped, etc skin or lips. It works GREAT! Walmart, Target, etc should have it.

Aquaphor is the single most effective lip treatment ever!!! Go get it. It is with the lotions at wal-mart!

Oh man I have your same problem! Except my lips must be way drier than yours because when I pick the skin off, it bleeds or it looks REALLY red and like weird feeling. I'm definitely going to get that aquaphor stuff!

While I don't have super dry lips, a dermatologist once told me the best thing you could put on your lips is shortening. (Perhaps that was before Aquaphor?)

you may be dehydrated--that will dry out lips, too. Drink lots of water, see if it helps.

i use a bit of vitamin e oil when my lips crack, and also i wear vaseline petroleum gelly every night as a lipgloss (thick application). my were dry for the first time this summer, [they burned while i was on vacation since i had never had dry lips before (i have been using vaseline since i was 13) i didnt know about sSPF-ing them too]. so i came home and did the vitamin e thing and am now back to using vaseline and no dryness! (also drink a LOT of water).

Hello! Palmer's Vitamin E Scar Serum! It is the best!!!!! Also, Chapstick All Natural and Blistex ProCare... Take it from someone who's battled this problem for years and tried everything!

Another vote for Aquaphor - it's amazing stuff! If you've never tried it, it's a petroleum base, so similar in texture to Vaseline, but it also has mineral oil, lanolin, panthenol, glycerin and other moisturizing agents. I am a lip balm addict and have tried about everything under the sun, and nothing beats Aquaphor, imo.

Here's what works for me...First you need a toothbrush that you will not be needing for anything else. Put some vaseline on the toothbrush and brush your lips. This not only moisturizes but also exfoliates the dry dead skin.

I think you can buy scrubs made specifically for the lips but I find this to word quite well.
