The other night I had a weird experience. I had just fallen asleep, but the TV woke me up so I jumped up and turned it off. Then I walked to the bathroom to take out my contact lenses. Once I got to the bathroom, I got intense waves of nausea, followed by disorientation, muffled hearing, confusion and euphoria. I walked back down the hall, where I blacked out for a few seconds and fainted. I fell against the wall and into my bike, and was aware of this happening, but didn't care and coudn't stop myself, even though it was in slow motion. I sat there for a few seconds, dazed, and gradually was able to stand up, with help of my boyfriend. I had woken him up with the noise of me falling, and after I sat down next to him, it took me a little while to "get with it" and be able to talk about what had happened. The confusion left but then I got a hot flash and became sweaty and shaky. That lasted for maybe 2 minutes, and then I felt fine, except for one or two brief waves of nausea. Since then, I have felt totally normal. What happened? Could it have been from jumping up real fast after lying down? but would that explain the nausea and hot flash? Or if it was a drop in blood pressure, what would have caused that? any advice or other ideas would help a lot!

I've had similar experiences, although the one time it happened I was out with my friends, and hadn't been feeling good all day. I had maybe 1/4 of a beer and started feeling really dizzy and disoriented, I went outside to get some fresh air and passed out on the sidewalk. The EMT's and dr's were convinced I had drank too much or taken drugs but all the test came back clear and they found I had a bundle branch block in my heart. I was in the hospital for a few days and it went away. I've had several of those spells again but not as bad. I'm now on heart medication that helps it a little bit but still doesn't cure it.

You sound like me. I've had problems with fainting in the past. Most likely it is due to low blood pressure. There is a condition known as orthostatic hypotension which causes your blood pressure to drop whenever you change position. If it is an isolated incident, I wouldn't worry much about it though. You said you "jumped up". In the future, if you have been laying down for a long time, make sure you stand up slowly in order to give your body time to pump blood up to the brain to prevent it from happening again. That does the trick for me.
