sweetpea333 01-19-2005, 02:45 AM do you feed a 6 month old?? Mary0114 01-20-2005, 03:51 PM You need to start feeding a baby between 4 and 6 months of age. Start with rice cereal, as it is the least likely to be allergenic. Avoid wheat or soy right now. Also, an interesting note: I heard on the radio ( a very well known radio doctor) that studies have been done that indicate that children who start on food too early (before 3 months) or too late (after 7 months) have QUADRUPLE the rate of juvenile diabetes as children. Scary stuff. So, at 6 months you should be feeding. Start with just the rice cereal mixed with breast milk or formula. Then gradually introduce the vegetables. Do veggies before fruit, or the baby will not take to the vegetables since the fruit is sweet. Sweet potatoes are good, green beans and so on. Also, read the labels. You need to avoid anything with EGG, SOYBEAN, WHEAT, BERRIES, CITRUS, COW'S MILK. These are potential allergens for a baby the first year. Buy only the baby foods that are just genuine pureed vegetables with no added ingredients. YOu can blend your own too. Good luck and start feeding. sunflowerhope 01-21-2005, 07:50 AM i love cherrios for babys LouiseM 02-01-2005, 09:28 PM Would you feed them to a six month old? I was wondering that too? I did try that new veggie puffs from Gerber, but my 6 month old chokes. |
