I generally have some whitish/clear discharge. Sometimes it is slightly heavy, othertimes I don't get it. I went in for my pap today and my dr said I had discharge and she got a swab to rule out a yeast infection since I had surgery a month ago and was given anti-biotics for four days after. My question: how do I know if I have a YI? I am 27 and to my knowledge have never had one. Most say there is a smell or the discharge is thicker or yellow. I have heard of other ways it may look or smell like. I have no itching. I will know the results in a few days, but thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

The 2 most known symptoms of a yeast infection are

1) Thick white "cottage cheese" like discharge
2) Severe itching!

I guess there can be odors too, but i've never experienced that.

Trust me you'll know if you have one, and they aren't too pretty, but not really a big issue.

If you have one, your doctor will prescribe a vaginal cream like canestan, or even the pill form.

But go for the 6 day treatments... I find they work better.

hope I helped!!

I had a pap smear about a week and half ago. My Doctor called today to let me know that it came back good, but he saw a slight yeast infection in the results and wanted me to take a pill treatment.

The thing is I have absolutely no symptoms either. I had my period this past week after the Doctor's visit and my normal discharge afterwards. I'm 23 and have never had an infection that I've known about. Is it normal to have no symptoms but to test positve for it? Any help would be appreciated
