I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have just found out that my Auntie has a brain tumour. It is cancerous and very aggressive. She has been told that she can come home but will need to attend hospital for radiotherapy on a daily basis.
Any ideas on what is to be expected or how long she may live?
Thanks

I'm sorry about your aunt...I really dont have any info on brain tumors, but I have a question for you...I was just wondering how your aunt found out that she had a brain tumor...did she have any symptoms? I was just wondering because I just found a lump on the back of my head that hurts when I press it. I'm worried that it coulc be cancer. Did your Aunt have this?
Well, I hope all is well with your aunt :)

Hi Michelleygrl....it's very unlikely that the lump at the back of your head is cancer. It's probably either a swollen lymph gland, or a small pimple or boil...
You have to remember that if you had a brain tumour, you wouldn't be able to feel a lump on your head because your skull is there. Brain tumours are in the brain tissue itself, or at least around it...you can't feel it through the skull.
Secondly, symptoms of a brain tumour are dependent on where the tumour is in your brain. Usually you'll get headaches which are described as "the worst headache of your life", with things like visual disturbances, problems speaking, trouble swallowing, paralysis of an eye, nausea, vomiting etc. etc. etc...all things that are involved with inhibition of brain function.

Thank you Projapoti, I appreciate your advice...I feel much better after reading that. I did go to the docter today and she did tell me that it was most likely just a lymph node...so you were right! Thanks again!

What type of cancer does she have? Has that been determined yet?

Hi, there isn't much we can say about her life expectancy rate. All's we can do is attempt to cheer you up, like the rest of the members did here when my grandfather was diagnosed with liver cancer stage 2. But if you ever need a shoulder to yell at, or cry to i'm here, feel free to PM me!
