I found out I had this about 6 months ago and it's been hell ever since. I think it's gone and it comes back again. I have tried Relagard, Flagyl, and MetroGel.
My symptoms are not the fishy smell I have read about on here. It's a stronger smell though after sex and during my period. I can usually tell when it's going to start because I stay very wet, can feel the discharge coming out and even at times I have an ammonia smell when I use the bathroom before I notice any real heavy discharge.
My discharge is yellowish green to whiteish gray and very wet.
Just had a pap last week and everything on that came back normal. When she done my pap she suggested a wet prep too because she said it looked like BV was coming back. Well sure enough it was. It hadn't got bad yet though when she found it. Done the MetroGel 7 days for this treatment. Hasn't been a week and I feel it coming back again.
I started the perxiode thing last night and going to get lactobacillus acidophillus pills today to see if this helps. I have read everything I can find online and on these boards about it and just curious to what all you experiece with it.
I wonder if it's hormone related? I know the ph is off is what causes it but I keep thinking hormones too but I may be wrong.
My husband tells me welcome to getting older......lol!

They say it is USUALLY not necessary for your partner to be treated but have you asked your doc if he/she thinks treating your husband might help?

I've had reaccuring infections as well. They have finally stopped coming back (crossing my fingers!) and I think it had A LOT to do with treating my partner. Ever since I have, no more infections. Some doctors say it is not possible to pass it back and forth, but the majority I have gone to say it is. So it won't hurt trying. Good luck!

Cindy, what's BV?
My dr. said it's stress hormone related and lots of people have the ammonia smell.
I have it, but without the color discharge you describe. Mine ranges from clear to light white.
I've been taking the acidol. for years and I still have it.
Guess that's just what some woman have.

BV is bacterial vaginosis.
I kept getting this over and over, and my doctor gave me a double treatment: a 1 week course of metronidazole tables, together with a one week course of clindmycin cream. Now I haven't had it for months.

I have been battling this for 2 years now. Mine just never goes away. I have tried everything there is. My gyne commented me on Friday saying I was a tough one. She is now thinking that I may have something called Interstital Cystitis. I do have constant burning and irritation. I don't have the traditional symptoms such as discharge, odor or anything like that. I go to the dr about every 2-3 weeks for rechecks and it is still there. I have tried the Clindesse, Relegard, Flagyl (pills and cream), we have doubled up on treatments at the same time and it won't go away. She said there is nothing else. She may have to send me to a gyne specialist. She said there is a procedure they can do. It's not common but it happens in a lot of women who get the repeated infections. I
am interested in learning about this. Hope this helps.

You can try boric acid capsules inserted twice daily in the vagina. The boric acid changes the Ph balance which many women have found will clear the B/V up.
Your doctor can write you out a scrip for them and a drugstore that compounds will make them uo for you. Or you can make them your self with 00 size empty gell caps and a good grade of boric acid.
