You mention that the only gastro doc near you is a male. You need to consider two things. First he went to school to learn how to help people with problems like yours and second he is merely doing his job. Since you mention abuse years ago you need to also consider getting some therapy for this. In the meantime set up an appointment with this doctor and find a friend or relative that you trust to go with you to the appointment. Also you can mention to the nurse that does the pre-exam stuff like your blood pressure and pulse about your earlier abuse and the fact that you are nervous about seeing a male MD. She will make the doc aware of this. Your health is way to important to just let this go and life is too precious to let is slip by just because the doc is a male. Find a trusting friend or relative and get the help you need. Good Luck. Sunlover 01-19-2005, 05:07 PM I agree 100% with mlg... and vomiting blood is not good with a history of bulemia! Your esophagus are probably irritated and if it keeps up you could end up with barretts esophagus which is a prelude to cancer of the esophagus. You are still very young, you can get this totally cleared up before it's anything bad - but PLEASE go or find a female doctor. Pain in armpit and groin could be swollen lymph nodes. |
