I have been increasing my treadmill running and I've been finding my ankles feel a little 'strained'. They don't hurt or anything but the sides of ankles right near to the heel feel a bit tight. Whats going on? Does running cause a strain on the ankles? It kind of feels like I wore some high heel shoes

It does increase the stress on the ankles, but as long as it doesn't hurt it's not a bad thing. If you're not used to doing it then it just takes a little time to build up conditioning for that activity. I used to have the wussiest ankles in the world until I started running. I think I sprained them every other week when I was a kid. But running really helped to strengthen and stabilize them.

When I run I sometimes fall sometimes because my ankles like I dont know I just feel extreme pain for 1 second in them and then I fall. I hate to run. Well that was 2 years ago. I dont think I have it anymore but I havent run a lot so cant really tell.

Naxis is right, and also, you can try to do a good stretch before a workout (if you don't already) like a runners lunge. And also, keep circling your ankles over and over again, till you feel like a burn in your calve. Then, you can just walk, then jog, and do intervals...but if they still hurt, just walk at a fast pace until you build up strength. :bouncing:
