My mom has be advised to have an operation to reset bones in her feet due to hammer toes and crumbling bones in her feet. She is unsure about the operation as they want to do both feet at the same time and she is worried about the success rate. Has anyone out there had the operation or something similar and pass on any advice.

I had hammwer toes on both feet so bad, it was very hard to find shoes or to walk. The Dr. who did my foot surgery recommended that I get both feet fixed at the same time. He was right....it is so painful, that if I hadn't got both fixed at the same time, I would not have gone thru it twice. Tell her not to let them do an ankle block as the anesthetic. I did and it has been nearly ten years since my surgery, and I have not had a single day without my ankles hurting. IT made my arthritis worse in my ankles!!!! Tell her to insist that they put her to sleep.
