After you went off the pill, how long did it take to get your first period? I just went off a month ago and am "technically" one day late. Just curious what other people's experiences have been.

It would have been 6 months but I got pregnant on my first ovulation (at 5 1/2 months). Now my son is 4 months and I am still awaiting the return of regular cycles.

I've always gone right back to 28 day cycles. But its not at all unusual for things to be weird at first. You might want to chart your cycles so that you'll know when to expect it. Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is a good resource if you are interested in this.

Hi Hellokitty1973, I never got my period back after stopping the pill several years ago. Apparently this happens in .008% of the population of women Lucky me :) !

I have been off the pill for a little more than two months, and I got my period ten days early! But then again, if I look at it from another perspective, I got it exactly three weeks after my December period. Oh well, periods are sometimes really irregular after stopping birth control. Go figure.

I have come off the pill several times - it can take me anything up to 10 months to get back to normal..

Recently I stopped the pill, and my period came a week late, with PMS symptoms for about 5 days beforehand (PMS is usually only 1-2 days before it starts for me)... and then I went back on the pill cos the cramping returned. Last time I went off the pill it was also to see whether my bad cramps had fixed themselves.. they hadn't - but I waited 2 months. The first month the cramps were worse than on the pill, but the 2nd month they were back as bad as ever before. And my periods were irregular just like they were before I went on the pill. So for me, I estimate about 2-3 months before my cycles return to what they were before I was on the pill. But I'm sure this depends a lot on each individual.

I finished my last pack of pills in December. I got my period a week early and it lasted a week and two days!! When I was on the pill, it only lasted about three days.

My period was three weeks late after going off the pill.. I never resumed a normal cycle because after that first period I got pregnant... I just had my first period in over a year this past weekend since I got back on the pill.. every ones body is different... hopefully your cycle will return to normal soon.. good luck

I have been off the pill for just over a month now and i am still waiting for a period its horrible waiting to see if you pregnant or not and is it true that a test can sometimes read negative if you do it too soon ?

It took me about 5-7 weeks, then it wasn't anything but spotting. The next month was the kicker ... beware of killer cramps!!!
