My brother has been battling anxiety and depression for months now and the doctor has finally convinced him to try antidepressents. He tried Zoloft for a month and decided it made him too anxious and shaky but it helped the depression. He was starting to act like himself again, but now he has started Lexapro on the advice of his physician because he complained about the anxiety. I'm worried that he will fall back into the severe anxiety/depression spiral again now that he's switched. How long does it take to see effects o Lexapro? What are the common side effects? How does it compare to Zoloft? I appreciate any advice!!

it can be difficult to find an antidepressant that works and whose early side effects can be tollerated
lexapro and zoloft are both the same type, that is prozac type, the side effects are different for everyone and cant be predicted, some get none at all

hopefully the lexapro will suit him better, it can help to reduce the dose a while by cutting the tablet, although any extended release effect will be lost, which isnt important, IMO
valium type meds also help but can be difficult to get
