At least once a month I have these excruciating pains in my abdomen. They hurt more than having a baby (literally). During the pains I have an explosive bowel movement with vomiting at the other end. I've read up on IBS but I don't have all the symptoms. I need to go to the dr. but I thought I would come here to see if maybe you all might know what it is before embarassing myself. This usually only happens about once a month and lasts up to an hour. Any comments appreciated. :)

You might want to get your gallbladder checked out. I use to have shooting pains in my stomach and it was gallstones, and I was only 18 when I had my gallbladder out.

It could also be ovulation and the change of hormones could spark your symptoms. You could test out the theory by taking your temp every morning for a month, chart it and see if it matches.

Is there anything specific you're doing the day before that's consistent monthly? (out with the girls, drinking, specific restaurant, specific foods...etc)

just throwing out ideas.

Because it is happening once a month it sounds like this could be a problem with your female reproductive organs like endometriosis, a cyst on your ovaries etc... You REALLY need to go to a Gynocologist to get this checked out. If your Gyno does not find anything then go see a Gastroenterologist as it could also be a problem with your GI system.

I've changed my diet a little bit. I've started eating one bowl of whole grain cereals a day and no bowel trouble(diarrhea and vomiting). I do cramp all the time it's like menstraul cramps?

hello there..well i have pain in my lower right side that seems to come wheni had my period... for years i would have theses attacks... i was told it was more then likely a cyst .. blah blah blah.. anyways... october 2003 i had an attack so bad i was taken to hospital.. because of the attacks they decided to take a look and take out my appendix... they found nothing female wise.. and my appendix looked fine but the pathology report did indicate it was infected.... since then the pain is still there and it comes and goes i haven't been having periods so no major attacks... I was sent for an ultrsound a couple of months ago due to my missing periods.. i had the pain then.and i always have what feels like menstural cramps... not severe but i had it and the ultrasound showed nothing there.. on my ovaries.. so it is not a good idea to assume anything. esp gyno stuff... i have been told that periods will flare up any type of imflammation.. is this when you are having your period or the middle of the month..
it could be IBD as well you really need to have this looked at .. ITB feeels better atfer a bowel movemeent and IBD doesn't .. bowel movements make my pain worse.. not sure this helps but good luck

I get the same symptoms but mine are not once a month. It is anywhere from every 3-7 months so it's probably not "female" problems. Maybe colitis?

symptoms like "thidagirls", not kellykay's, that is. It feels like really bad gas pains combined with menstral cramps, but it's not that time of the month. My stomach will then gurgle really violently and the pain is so bad that I break out in a sweat and almost pass out. As soon as I "explode" it feels fine until the next attack (within 5 min. or so). This lasts for 20-90 min. I have had this problem about every 6 mos. for the past 14 years. Never thought anything of it until my family said I should get it checked out. Anyone know what this could be?
