My husband has always had high triglyceride levels and high cholesterol. He eats alot of sweets and is a little overweight to begin with. He got back his levels and his chol. was 208 and trig. were 634. His Dr. put him on Lopod 600mg. and was wondering if any of you have taken this and did it help? THX :)

Lopid is gemfribozil and is specifically geared to lowering triglycerides...it blocks some of the liver's glyceride production. I've never taken it but my mother did many years ago and she never complained about it. As I recall, they were big horse capsules!
It can be hard on the digestion so gastric discomfort isn't unlikely. Have liver enzymes checked after a month.
It's contraindicated in anyone with gall bladder problems.

Hubby's overall cholesterol isn't bad at 208 and stopping the sweets will go a long way towards dropping that awful triglyceride number.

i took the lopid for about 10 years with no real good results last year my dr switched me to tricor which have had great results from . now if your hubbay wil cut out the fats and hi carbohydrates like the sweets and snacks he should see his numbers go down.also execise even just a walk around the block everyday will also help.. does he drink regular coffee or decaf i know that regular coffee will increase the cholesterol also.
