Hi everyone,

I am asking this question on behalf of my mom. In november she had a heart attack. She had 2 stents put in a week later. The problem is she is having a heavy feeling in her chest all the time and it is starting to worry her. Is this a normal reaction to getting used to them or is it a more serious problem.
Any input would be appreciated.

Shaz no that is not necessarily a normal reaction especially if this has come on suddenly. Stents can fail and scarring can occur around the stents and block the artery like the plaque did before. She needs to be seen be her doctor very soon. I had experience with that. I had a stent the last day of Oct 2001 and by early Feb 2002 a scar had formed around my stent causing me to need emergency heart bypass so don't let her wait too long in seeing her doctor.

The stents can close pretty quickly, I had two stents in Oct, two in March, two in Aug and a angioplasty in between in may to try to open the stents.
