I am wondering if you can have a normal chest xray and still have cancer?
Mine came back normal...so my doc. has upped my antibiotics and put me on prednisone...trying to get rid of the cough and phlegm...been over 6 weeks now...getting a lot of chest pain now too...i am thinking that is from the coughing...

any info would be great...
thanks,
twiggy

HI

Yes, unfortunately, it's possible to have a clear x-ray and still have lung cancer.

If one hasn't been done, try and insist on a lung CT. That shows a much better picture.

My x-ray is normal, but the CT of my lungs certainly was NOT.

Good lulck

Yes, you can. My husband's x-rays showed pneumonia, they did not see his cancer on x-rays. Ask for a CT scan, it is MUCH better then a standard x-ray.

My SIL recently was diagnosed with Stage 3b NSCLC after a clear xray and antibiotics for over a month. She quit smoking over 5 years ago and had no other symptoms except a cough. If she had insisted on a scan a month earlier she may have caught it in an earlier stage as they said that her tumor is aggressive. I would insist on a scan!
