Has anyone here ever got a rash on both legs parrallel to each other from running a lot?
There must be a term for this kind of rash, but I would really like to know how to start healing it.
They are not very big rashes, but I know for sure that the cardio I have been doing triggered it.
It is very uncomfortable and usually I have to walk like a penguin after enduring lots of minutes with it.
Please help if you can, thank you in advanced.

Actually, the medical term for it IS "Runner's Rash." It is most common on the inner thighs, but it can also happen in the groin area, the nipples, and even in the underarms.

Best prevention is some kind of lubricant. Try a local running store, or if you live in an area without one, do a search on the net for Body Glide or Runners Lube. Of course Vaseline works just as well, and you probably have it in your home already. These are designed to be applied BEFORE you run.

The proper clothing will also help. Something snug like Lycra or Spandex exercise shorts or tights will reduce the friction. Avoid cotton or loose-fitting underwear. If seams are the problem, you can wear garments inside out. I've also heard of wearing pantyhose, but as a guy, I can't bring myself to try it.

If it's too late and you are already chafed, a diaper rash creme like Desitin or A&D will help soothe the area. Some people prefer baby powder or Gold Bond, but don't use a creme AND a powder together or you'll end up a mess.

I have to disagree with Philly dude, I think he does wear pantyhose but, only very late at night and usually just the weekends.

... you know i jest, and as far as the creme and Gold Bond, I believe that can make you implode.

Are we talking about "chaffing"? Not sure about the spelling. I have this problem if I run for long periods of time. My problem changed when I bought running shorts. I used to jog in anything. I then went to boxer briefs which helped at first but eventually the briefs would "ride" up high and cause me the problem again. The jogging shorts with the underwear lining made a huge difference. I am now also using the machine that works like a thighmaster. I'm hoping to slim down my inner thighs to help aleviate this problem even more. My limit even with jogging shorts is 6 miles. After that, I will "chaffe" no matter what and it hurts like hell for days. For me it also matters whether I am jogging inside or outside. Outside is worse since I only jog when the temp is above 60 and I believe that I sweat more. I also play a lot of squash which doesn't cause this problem so I guess it's the continual friction happening when you jog. I am not sure if a lubricant will help. I think a lubricant may help at first but it would eventually rub dry giving you the same problem. I work with some guys that are really thin and run marathons and they too have the same problems from time to time.

And this coming from a guy who admits to coating his body with oil and prancing around wearing nothing but a speedo.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

actually it sounds like a day at the beach to me.
