Hi everyone,

I'm 24 years old, female. I've never had acne my whole life until my FM symtoms began appearing. Now I can't seem to get rid of it. This started before I was actually disgnosed and before I began taking any meds, so I don't think it's the medications. FYI, I take Trazodone, Zoloft and Tylenol currently.

Just wondering if anyone else had noticed the same thing or if it isn't related to FM? Perhaps it's related to lack of exercise? I used to work out at the gym but when my symptoms got really bad, I had to stop.

hi kc,
it is related to your fms. one of the signs i receive from my body that a flare up is coming is break outs. nasty ones. big scary hurting volcanos on my back and scalp. during a flare i continue to sport the pubescent look. can't wear the cloths anymore tho, rats!
i use a topical steroid and antibiotic, need rx from skin doc, and i shave my head. i have noticed regular shaving of my head with a razor down to nada keeps my scalp looking healthy.
i never had pimples as a teen. i had them briefly during pregnancy 26 years ago. i am post menopausal now, hooray!! i see it is at last my turn to have pimples. bizarre nasty little critters! oh well!
peace,

have you been to a skin doc yet? it's a starting point if you have not. you will need a referral from your g.p. also a check of your hormone levels may offer some clues.

Hey KC,
I have rosacea, a facial skin disease. I went through quite a time getting diagnosed - having gone to my pcp who misdiagnosed it as acne. After a few years of the condition getting worse, I finally made an appt with a dermatologist who diagnosed rosacea. You can research it on the web and find out the particulars and treatments. Once I found out what it was and got meds for it, I've been able to control it pretty well. You may want to check into rosacea and see if this is possibly what you have. It looks very much like acne and can act like it also. There are trigger foods as well as stress, environment, etc that can cause flare ups. Just what you need, another disease with flare ups!!! Let me know what you find out.
God bless, Jen
