Some info on My Cholest Numbers:
Have been taking p/day (started on 12/15/04):
RYR 600 MG
Fish Oil 1000MG
CQ-10 100MG
DATE: 12/15/04 1/15/05 (RYR)
HDL 34 31
LDL 158 153
Tri 278 150
Total 245 214
Is the RYR doing anything here?
Thanks,
Fabian

I thought most take 1200mg of ryr /day. I think the capsules usually come in 600, but recommend taking more than one.

Yes, 1200 is recommended.. I was getting dizzy at 1200.. maybe I should try to start that dosage again..

The most striking change has been in the reduction of your triglycerides. That is significant. I know that a substantial amount of fish oil can significantly lower triglycerides, but are you also making dietary changes, such as reducing your carbohydrate intake?

Yep,
As ARIZONA sid, the only significant change is the drastic change in the triglycerides. Unfortunately, you can't take those numbers to the bank because triglycerides are volatile and often reflect more of what you've eaten in the last 36 hours than the general state of your vascular health.
Don't get me wrong though, low triglycerides are VERY desirable and whatever is doing it is doing it, whether diet, statin, or supplements, it's doing it WELL.:D
I think more RYR is needed to get the LDL down, the 600 mg. isn't doing the trick (RYR is a very WEAK statin.)

Yes, have been with low carbs for about 5 months.. with little change.. the chages occured after I started on the three daily meds listed above..
My eating habits are pretty stable.. so I've been eating the same things ... over and over.. right before the blood test..
I do realize the minimal changes in the LDL and that's why i was bummed .. sort of..
I will try to get back on 1200 a day and see if I can stand it..
Thank all,
Fabian.

What is RYR? Sorry, I know I'm being a pest asking lots of questions, but I'm not familiar with much of this. I'm learning......

RYR = red yeast rice. I don't know much about it, so will let you search for info on it or wait for someone else who can explain more. I think it is supposed to contain a weak natural statin.

I read a report that taking 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon per day not only helps with sugar levels in the blood but also the over all lipid panel as well.
