Don't ask me how I'm typing this - it's just to get my mind off this SHOOTING PAIN! wow. My Pod and all the nurses were great - I have two screws and a pin and a huge fiberglass cast. The X-ray shows my toes all facing straight, which is great, but it FEELS like the cast is just one huge too-tight shoe. It's fine, I know, but all I want to do is wiggle my toes! Anyone else experience this?
Looking forward to the passage of time.....
I am 2 weeks post op...or 3, had 2 surgeries in a weeks time. Yup...wiggle the toes, its OK...it will feel great!!! Hang in there, keep the foot up, take the pain meds and sleep if you can, it passes the first few days, which are the hardest. Hope you do well and heal quick..............these boards help me alot, lets me know I am not alone.

I have my second doc visit on tuesday, I hope to find out more about how much I should be moving my big toe.
I am pleased to say I don't have much pain!

Big toe?!?!?!? My foot was broken in three places for this bunionectomy/osteotomy - moving my big toe seems like a faraway dream - the other toes are moving though!
Nothing prepares you for putting that foot down the first couple times - throb!!!!!!!!!! But it's getting better and my doc is really optimistic. We'll see. Oh - and I have a GREAT tip! I'm elevating it on two large cylindrical pillows (furry, from IKEA) - they keep my foot above my heart, yet I can ROLL them when I want to sit up or lie down further. They're really great.
Hang in there, everybody!
ps - I'm so sad about Johnny Carson....
