Hi,

I didn't realise there's an oil-free version...but I didn't like the original one because of the metallic odour on my skin. I'm sure it was effective, but couldn't get past the smell.

oh, sorry I haven't gotten back to you on this.

I just checked it and it IS the oil-free, the same as what you're talking about.

The titanium dioxide leaves a "metallic smell" on my fact that I can smell. Maybe it's how it reacts with my skin.

My husband is bald, and he uses it in the spring/summer/fall and it works well with no reactions....if that's any help. Of course he uses a good sunscreen and a hat if he's in the sun for an extended period of time. He's had basel cell carcinoma removed in various places...it's a good option for his bald paté.

I am afraid of using those powder foundations, even if they say oil free. It still seems that they make my face oily. I'd like to know what others think of this product though. Is it pretty sheer? Something I could wear in the summer? I don't want to buy it to try it b/c I can't return it if I hate it. I tried a tinted moisturizer/spf foundation type thing and it wasn't very good. I do like my perfectly real though. I would like to know as well!

I bought my oil free city base powder foundation last summer and felt as thought aftera few hrs of havingit on or less iooked so shiney..I think it was the SPF in it since that it s chemical SPF it sits above the skins surface...it applies nicely and blends well light to moderate coverage..I felt too shiny with it...MEL1977 I too have the perfectly real from Clinique i have all their makeup..even have SUperfit..I swithc back and forth between Perfectly real and MAC's studio fix..

I am wondering too if the SPF makes it feel oilier even if there is no "oil" in it. That spf foundation i bought before also has SPF and is oil free and it also causes me to be very shiney. May be something to ask the Clinique folks! Makes sense to me!

Actually, the titanium dioxide is what's called a physical barrier....and that's that would cause the skin to feel oilier and "sweat" more because it sits on the skin. It doesn't spread "into" the skin as a chemical spf does.

quincy, could you explain more? I only use SPF when I swim (well, USED to. I want to start treating my skin better).

I have a problem wearing certain SPF's especailly in makesup.I've tried Prescritives Virtual matte oil free foundation..same problem felt very shiney due to the SPF,same problem with Cliniques city base oil free makeup and another one from LAncome I've tried..My skin feels less shiny when i use a foundation free of SPF's..just me....
