My mother was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer about 3 years ago. She had Chemo (Carbo-Platinum) and went into remission. This passed year she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. That was treated with radiation and it was also discovered that the Ovarian Cancer was out of remission. The cancer has spread to the wall of her lung.

She started Carbo Platinum about 2 months ago, but her last treatment resulted in serious allergic reaction. This passed Sunday I brough her in for a CAT scan to see how the Chemo was working. Today she is in for a treatment with a new drug, 2 weeks on, 1 week off.

Her doctor is located in Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan. We live in Long Island.

Doctors seem to think she is doing well and this round of cancer is not nearly as bad as the first time. They said she almost did not make it through first round...scary http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

Michael,
I am sorry to hear your mother is out of remission. It is so stressful on the entire family to watch someone fight this terrible disease. I wish you all the best.

My mom was also diagnosed with Ovarian cancer three years ago. She is on Taxol chemo. right now. Her CA125 count is 22 and if it stays the same in January the doctor will stop chemo. and run tests every month. They seem to think there is one area that will start growing a new tumor. It feels like it is just a matter of when. And I don't know how much more of this my mother can take. She is very strong and had been great through this whole ordeal but at some point a persons body has to say enough is enough.

Scared Too!!

Write Back,
