View Full Version : Levator Syndrome

A while back, someone mentioned being diagnosed with Levator Syndrome, which is a chronic spasm of the anus (very painful), Appenrently, episodes come and go.

I've had bad rectal spasms for the last 6 months. I had 2 fissures that required surgery to fix, but I still get the spasms, especially after sex or weight lifting. They last for about 30 minutes and then subside, but for 30 minutes, I feel like I'm going to die.

Even during the day, I feel some spasms here and there, and it makes me feel like I have to have a bowel movement. I don't have and diarhea or constipation, and my BMs are totally normal, although when I had the fissures, I was getting some blood. I don't have any abdominal pain, or anything like that.

My surgeon seems to think this is post-operative nonsense, but I'm worried, since I had surgery over a month ago, and the spasms persist.

Does anyone know anything about Levator? Does anyone else have rectal spasm problems? Is there anything I can do? My doctor isn't much of a help, and I'm really frustrated. I also can't go to 10 doctors and undergo a wild goose chase. Did anyone here have spasms after fissure surgery.

ugh, I need some positive feedback!
