my last post about my neighbors 3 y/o DS got a bit lost in my DD post - ...........
My neighbors son is 3 . He has been a terrible sleeper since day 1. He has severe food allergies, pet allergies and bad asthma ( is that connected with Autism sometimes?) . He is on some meds for the above - and I think that is some of the reason why he acts like he does. He also has a 12 month old brother - he got worse after baby was born. He yells in people's face - says things like " cause I hate you, or " I just HAVE to be bad mommy, or "I want to smother you"
He throws toys at kids ( that why my DD does not like to go there) he spits food in kids faces ( my DD included) - he throws his food all around and will NOT stay in time out - when he is put in time-out - he destroys his room, or bangs his head on the door. He runs around throwing things and banging toys and yelling. He has a hard time satying put for any amont of time .
He does not have good eye contact - BUT - he has a great vocabulary can hold a normal conversation, was speaking at the age of 12 months - walked at 10 months.
Now, to me, it sounds like he has something - but Autism? I don't know.
What do you all think? I told her I was posting here about my DD and she asked me to ask what you all thought about her son.
Thanks!
Jean

The only concern about autism is the poor eye contact. Otherwise it could be a lot of different things, ADD, SID, or even just that he does it because he can get away with it. It wouldn't hurt for him to be evaluated.

No i dont see any ASD from the post. It sounds like he makes the house rules!Hes 3.Put him in time out.If you need to go futher stick him in his PJs and put him in bed only to get up to potty or eat for the rest of the day and night then have a talk why hes in there and make him apologize.Kids need structure! One time when my girl was 4 she had been given so many chances for her bad behaviour chances did no good it made her do more things well i had it up to here. Right before preschool bus pick up she poured baby powder all over her room and kicked me in the leg! She thought Mom will let this one go too. The bus pulled up i went out told the driver see you tomorrow i wasnt about to send her to school with that attitude. I took her to room on with the pjs to bed for the rest of the day till next morning up only to potty or eat.Next day to school never had a aggression problem again. Its hard when kids are young because theres other kids who hit etc but as a parent i had to draw the line for the better. She knows shes aloud to make mistakes but hitting rudeness etc is out of the question.Hows oneto learn if limits are not set.Have Mom talk with the Doc about Medicine issue is he taking steroids for his breathing big issue here does he have foods hes allergic too.

Thanks girls - I told her I didn't think he was autistic - he is just wild and totally out of control. I really think it's cause of some of the meds he is on -
thanks again!
thanks again!
