Major apologies from a petulant 50 yr old child who figuratively stamped her foot on the ground because people were spreading what she believes are incorrect & unsubstantied theories.
Enough of the 3rd person style!
Honest, all of you - you guys are all the best...
I totally support your right to believe or disbelieve ANYthing...
But - for me - and for all newbies who may actually NEED a chemical Rx to treat an actual chemical imbalance - would folks at least try to indicate that the "it's all behavioral at least TRY (you don't have to succeed!) to balance (I know, sounds like a bad joke!) their rhetoric?
There really are bipolars who DO have an actual chemical imbalance. There is no other explanation for their illness. Like me.
Could you live with having a newbie go off their meds because most of the threads here lately are saying they "don't need the pills" and then have a psychotic mania or catatonic depression?
Guess I'll try not to react. It's hard tho, because I believe it so strongly from all I've seen and read.
A hug to my most ardent dissenters (Hedge!) and those who understand that the brain can have a disease too (PrincessPea, concerned39, ETC!)
I'll try not to be a petulant

ever again!

Well kiehn, I can tell you that this is one of the best places there is to get past emotional issues if you give us a try.
I had an ex-guy in my life who died at age 49 and I can't tell you what the support here on several of the boards I post on meant to me. It's not something I could talk to to just anyone about- there were people here who understood.
Some emotional issues never get past - but they can be kind of rolled up and carried along with us. My Dad's death 4 yrs ago is like that. Such a long shallow depression that death caused - strange to have a depression with a "real" cause rather than bipolar based...
Thanks to you and to princesspea (love the name & does it have to do with that olde fairy tale?) for the welcome...

Sometimes the hardest thing to do is to agree to disagree. It sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it. But it is vital that the world learn how to do it!
And the great thing about the Internet is that people can get virtually infinitely many opinions from all kinds of people with all kinds of experiences. And it's important to remember that everyone's different!
I'm not trying to lecture. Sorry, I didn't mean for it to come out like that. But I'm glad everyone's ok and I really love this board and everyone on it. Sometimes I feel like nobody understands me, but this board by FAR comes the closest. Thanks, everyone, for being there for me and for everyone else. ;)

Ruth,
It has everything to do with the olde fairy tale. You know you're the only person that has ever asked me about it.
Love,
Jamie

 Hello Ruth- I just had to post to your last one on Hedges thread. I am so like you in my belief and too feel the frustration when someone tries to tell me that if I was just loved, understood,accepted,supported- my bp would go away.Well I had all those things and it didn't matter one whit- my bp was still the same.As I said it goes way back to when I was a youngster of about 12- with a normal life as much as can be- and showed signs even then. Just had to stop in and say hi- and understand you 100%- Love and understanding to you- Nadine  -once again up in the middle of the morning lol
