I would like to get some information from the group on recovery from Dizziness caused by a stroke.

I had my stroke in August 2004 which was caused by a bloot clot (DVT) in my knee from surgery. I also was diagnosed with a PFO which was closed using an Amplatzer Device.

I have a spot on my brain in the right front lobe and I have experience dizziness and forgetfullness since the stroke. I can walk and have no problem with balance, but I feel like I haven't eatten anything all day and have trouble concentrating sometimes. It has been over 5 months and I'm still experiencing these side effects. I may lose my job in the public service sector because I can not give a time frame for possible recovery. The doctors have been no help because thay say the only thing that is going to help is time and they cannot be sure if it will ever clear up.

Can anyone tell me if this is what they went through and if it cleared up. Or if they were able to take any kind of medicine to help.

My stroke was due to a bilateral VAD in 2003. Dealing with dizziness is a constant thing for me whenver I turn my head especially to look up or down. But I also suffer from off-balance sensation. Your dizziness is a less severe case, I GUESS. It is taking almost 2 yrs for me, so...

Good luck

Thanks to everyone who responded. I actually did see a Stroke Neurologist and had some further testing done. This testing revealed that I had some inner ear damage and this was causing my dizziness. The audioligist can not say for sure that this is an after effect of the stroke, but she thinks it is because I did not have any symptons prior to the stroke. The good news is I now know what is making me dizzy. The bad news is it may never heal. Only time will tell.

Tollsmom,
You might wish to write your, State Insurance Commissioner, with a letter of complaint asking for help and request an investigation into your case. Be sure to copy your insurance company. When they see you mean business and are going to shine the light of day on your problem, you may find your insurance company may take a more positive look at your case. A copy to you states largest newspapers, ( Letters to the editior ) may also help move the company into the pay mode.

Good luck,

Jim
