 I have my surgery scheduled for Feb. 28, I told the nurse that I wanted to wait until after my birthday on the 14th, so the 28th was the next available date. The doctor is going to fuse two disc , L3 and L4 and put a rod and screws and a metal cage. Anybody had this done? Any advice. He said that it would be a 4 to 5 hour surgery and about 4 days in the hospital. Any problem going thru airport security?

I want to wish you the best with your upcoming surgery. I am recovering from a two level fusion and am one month post op and doing well (more like five or six weeks). Are you planning on traveling soon? Be sure to talk to your dr about that-even at one month an airplane trip wouldn't be the best or best feeling thing in the world. I was told they use titanium now in us and that shouldn't tip off the metal detectors. If you end up with a bone growth stimulator, you get a special card for travel.
So, this is fast approaching! I am sure you will do great.

I was up and walking that night of surgery, So just do waht they say and you will be better in the end. Good luck.

 Thanks for responding, I think I will do good, and I plan on doing as I am told, I am so tired of this pain and not being able to do anything, shopping is impossible, even sitting in church is painful. Don't plan on traveling anytime soon, was just wondering if the screws and cage would cause the alarms to go off when I do travel.

Best of luck with your surgery! I had a 2 level fusioon on Jan. 5, and so far it's the best thing I ever did. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer whatever I can for you!
