Hello every one! iam a 19 years old boy from india. I have been suffering from herniated disk simce last year. iam been through deep pain. and i gace gone through every therapy , alopathy,homeopathy,accupressure/puncture. none helped. If u guys can show me some light that'll be great. there are only few sone expecrts in india they r recommending me for a surgery. but i have heard many of they surgeries they performed went wrong also n ppl got paralysed.i think at least iam walking n standing on my feet even though iam in pain..
In australia the risks of paraalysis are minimal and surgery generally results in an improved outcome. I am an familiar with your health ssystem and the succes/failure rates of surgery. Have you tried exerciseing in water - hydrothepay? If not thats the onoly other option I can suggest
good luck

Thanx losy i will see whats hydrothepay? coz i dont think its common in India, never heard of it.
@stidw: i have not gone through surgery yet. the problem iam facing is that intense pain in lower back and pain travells in right leg and few weeks back the pain started on left side of spine too. States is way to expensive in medical treatment. what kind of surgery is advised form u all people which is easy to perform n less risky.

First off you need a spine specialist, with a spine fellowship. I could hardly walk because of spinal stenosis. My spine was also unstable. My orthopedic spine specialist did a laminectomy for the stenosis and while he was in there he stabilized my back by fusing me from L3-S1. He used BMP so he didn't have to touch my hip. Seven months later I'm doing great!

you want to try and reduce the swelling as much as possible, try ice compacts several times a day, can you get motrin, a muscle relaxer,
it canhelp reduce swelling, these aren't cures but they can help some until you find a doctor, I had to be taken to emergency room for pain in my legs, I couldn't walk, the pain was traveling from spine to foot, and they found motrin worked best. Its like Ibuprofen they gave me 600 mg. with a meal.

I had a laminectomy at L4-5 just over a month ago because I was unable to walk very far without having to sit down because of the pain. In my case, fusion was not needed, so after a month's recuperation, I have been able to return to work and only need to continue building my stamina.
The first think you need to do is to see a Neurosurgeon and have an MRI performed to determine the extent of your lumbar problems. Coming to the United States for treatment is also a good idea.
