Thank you for your answer.
Where exactly in the brain was it BAZ??? On the Carotoid Artery??
Was this your first one?? (my husbands is 3 to 4 mm on the Carotoid Artery). I hear usually they do not operate when it is that small. Did they give you some type of dye test before they decided to operate or did they just go by the MRI??? Tx again

All I know is that is was about 3 inches above my left ear! I had the 'dye' test. This is a painless 45 min procedure wherby they inject dye into an artery in the groin which then travels up to the brain and they then Xray your head. From this they can tell if there are any aneurysms. This procedure is apparantly 100% accurate whereas the MRI is only 90/95% accurate when looking for small aneurysms.....

What type was it?? Did they say why they decided to operate on one only 3mm. Was it due to the family history??? I always had the understanding that if it was small they left it.
It also runs in my husbands family, as he lost his 20 year old sister to a ruptured one 31 years ago. I appreciate any input you can give me on this. Our appointment to see the specialist is not until March 28. TX Karon

Generally speaking there are no symptoms with an aneurysm. I had none at all. Generally people are born with them but they can develope during life if you lead a very bad lifestyle. . I got checked out because my Dad had any aneurysm which burst (brain haemorrage). Thankfully he's 100%. If you have a brain haemorrage there is a 50% chance that it will kill you instanly. If you survive, there is a 25% chance that you will sufer from stroke-like symptoms.

My aneurysm was apparently easy enough to get at and the surgeon STRONGLY recommended that I have it treated. Unfortunately mine could not be coiled so I had to have my head cut open.

There is a history of them in my Dads familiy. Three of his sisters died from brain haemorrages. one of my sisters had two aneurysms which were sucessfully treated by coiling. My other sister and brother were all clear.

If one of your parents has one then there is a much stronger chance that you may have one.

My opinion - get it sorted FAST and then you can relax!

thank you for your reply.aneurysms dont run in my family but forms of thrombosis does.my nanny died off it and my aunty has just been diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome(form of thrombosis) which as far as i know can cause problems with the brain/head. im being tested for antiphospholipid to but my doctor say sometimes its like trying to find a needle in a haystack to diagnose.
i have appointment at my migraine clinic for my pain injections in 2 weeks so ill definatley mention my worries again and hopefully i can get reffered again to neurologist.

I know you are not suppose to bring up blasts from the past but if you happen to see my post, please respond. I am about to undergo a clipping for the same issue as you. Same artery only on the right side. Please let me know how you are doing.
