Many times patients with high cholesterol are given one of the diet regimens recommended by the Amer. Heart Assn. You can also get it from their website. Here is the diet and nutrition page:

http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=1200010

The third item on the page is dietary recommendations including for cholesterol control. On the right side is a link to "know your fats".

Hope this helps.

Hi kelly,
,,,We're just meeting every where aren't we? If you read around on this board, you'll see several comments on the glycemic index. I saw a great improvement on my cholesterol numbers since I been on a low to medium glycvemic index diet so you may want to try something like that with your dad. My blood pressure has also dropped to 110/75 and a year ago it was averaging around 135/80. Niether one is a bad BP but it shows how the glycemic index can greatly improve things.
...It's not the whole answer which is why I'm here. My LDL hasn't changed even though my HDL has gone to 40 and my tryglycerides have dropped from 350+ to 97.
..Hope your dizziness is better,
Rick
