My dad was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer around the beginning of Nov. He had all the tests and scans and so far it is only in his lung. He has been getting chemo to shrink the tumor and hopefully it will. If it does, then they will remove the lung.
The past few weeks though, he has been having stroke like symptoms. His right side is numb and he can barely use it. His speech is also affected as he is a bit slurred and seems to hesitate. He has seen his dr. and she poked and prodded and checked his reflexes, etc. She has scheduled him for a head CAT. She says she can't give him an answer as to what it is till he gets his scan. She says it COULD be stroke symptoms, but unlikely cause if it was, he probably wouldn't have made it. She says it COULD be that the cancer has spread to his brain. Again, until the scan, we have no answers.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has had anything like this happen. Please reply if so. Thanks alot.

Hi. My dad had lung cancer also. His tumor was actually removed and then chemo and radiation and that got rid of it. The doctors said the cancer was completly gone.

I hope your father has such good luck. As for the stroke symptoms, I would suggest they did a CAT Scan asap and if the dr is putting it off, I would get another doctor.

That is just my opinion.

I suggest a MRI done on your Dad's brain besides the CT scan. Sometimes CT scan misses out the tumor on brain totally. This happened to my mom.

First, thanks for the replies. He did get his ct scan and, unluckily (sounds funny) it wasn't a stroke. His cancer has spread to the brain. His oncologist has given him more steroids and they have helped immensely. Reduced the swelling and he can get around alot better.
They have discontined his chemo and will be doing radiation. It will slow the progression down.
Again thanks for the replies.
