I was diag. w/IBS just recently due to a tender stomach exam and intermittent diar. w/const. My stomach tends to "blow" up at night and by morning it is back down to normal size. But for the past few days it has blown up to a considerable size, very uncomfortable from my rib cage to groin it looks like I swallowed a watermelon! At first it was just uncomfortable and I was still passing stool normally, but last night and this morning there has been incredible sharp pains in my lower abdomen, feels like a "hot poker" in my rectum and the pain comes and goes the longest it lasted was 3 hrs. I layed down with a heating pad and it subsided a bit. I took a mild laxative this morning after this and nothing happened. I drank a bottle of magnesium citrate (spelling?) with no results. What the heck is going on? Is this IBS or should i go see a doc?

I can tell you that I have experience what you are discribing...the bloating and pains. It is my IBS. I am a C and have taken lax. and mag.c with no luck before. I did go to a doctor though to make sure I wasn't impacted. I always say when in doubt go to the doc. He works for you so don't feel bad about repeatedly going in there. Now I don't go in for every little thing but, when I have a new symptom that worries me or is a significant change for me. I get checked out. This is just my experience and 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Alot of time with bloating -- it means that your intestinal friendly bacteria is out of balance like an intestinal yeast infection/ candida.
Eating a good brand of yogurt and taking a probiotic supplement may help to re-balance the intestinal flora.
I like and use Stonyfield Farm yogurt -- it contains 4 additional active friendly cultures and it's organic. Yogurt contains very little lactose because the 2 cultures use to make it use up all the milk sugar(lactose) that we find it difficult to digest!
I also use Pearls by Enzymatic Therapy and PB-8 by Nutrition Now--- probiotics. They work for me!!

Harry thanks for the post!
I guess my gut figured out what you said before I knew why. I take a good probiotic with 4 bacteria. I never associated it with my gas going away but, I'm sure it helped. I just noticed the Yeast going away on my tongue. Thanks again!

Where are you guys finding the probiotic supplements? (I wonder if these would help my IBS symtpoms as well as my Siunitis which is ruining my life too!)
