hello, i've been on depo-vera (the every three months birth control shot) and i have been having the symptoms of ovarian cancer. I go to the doctor july 25th for them to check it out. I was wondering if anyone has any helpful info about ovarian cancer, or any links that might help me or know of any tests that they might do, or questions to ask the doctor, or have some insight or personal experience on this subject. I'm almost 17 years old and am in a serious relationship and we would like to have children after we get married. I've been on the shot for almost 1 year. If you don't want to post your answers on the message board you can e-mail me at my e-mail address listed on the board. If you have any info to send me it will be greatly appreciated. I would just like a lil info and insight from others.
Thanks alot,
hammermanslilangel@ hotmail.com

Hi, the symptoms of ovarian cancer can be from a number of different illnesses. By virtue of your age and the fact you use birth control (using birth control REDUCES the risk of ovarian cancer)it is not likely you have cancer, but..I am not a dr. A good site I would highly recommend you go to to discuss your concerns would be: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health/
It is a site where obgyn drs answer questions about womens health issues - just like your question. I've used that site and found the drs to be very helpful.
If your still concerned about cancer the John Hopkins website has lots of info. http://ovariancancer.jhmi.edu/

thanks for your reply but the reson they have ruled it down to ovarian cancer is bz my dad had 5 aunts, and one older sis that died of ovarian cancer. Depo-Vera has been known to cause ovarian and cervical cancers. Ive done my research, and ive also tlaked with my doc's. I f you would like more info put up another post with the info you need.
Thank You,
