I am new here and I had a question. I have not been formaly diagnosed, but DR says it is not MS which was a main concern for me.

My symptoms range from
changing eyeglass perscriptions
vision disturbances like floaters
Tingling from time to time in limbs
speradic muscle twitching
tremors
bladder issues
Gerd like symptoms
bouts with mild depression

A new symptom I have is Leg pain. It is worse when I get up in the morning or if I have been sitting for a while. When I get up my right calf feels stiff and sore as does the heel of my foot. Sometimes I dont think it is going to be able to support my weight. If I stretch or stand on my tippy toes I can feel a pulling sensation in my calf. It does happen in my left calf, but the right is much worse.

Has anyone else experianced this sort of pain also? It has become very troublesome.

thanks,
Lori

hi lori,
welcome aboard!
sounds like your ciatic nerve. try standing on a stair with your heels hanging over the edge. let your weight fall toward your heels and see if you feel it in your butt. one of the symptoms of ciatica is heel pain. does it sort of feel like you stepped on a rock and the heel is bruised? another good stretch is sit on a chair, cross your right leg over your left, place your left hand across your knees and turn from the hips to your right. you ought to feel a stretch on the right high in your fanny near your lumbar spine and in your right hip region.
floaters in the eye are no big deal. i have had them most of my life. they usually occur as we age. so does changing your prescription! i am 49. i play with them. i zip my eye one direction and watch the floaters follow.
there is a thread titled "the list" by copper. find it and print it out. this may bring you a bit of peace. knowledge chases fear away.
peace my newbie sister,

ps. it's always a good policy to sit back down if you feel like you may fall. it's a long way to the ground and for some reason it hurts when i fall. remember when you were a tiny one and falling was no big deal. the ground was closer then.
also ask your doc about chronic myofascial pain. the symptoms are similar to fms. i have fms and cmp in my eyes. after having cataract surgery fms and cmp raced there. they are speeding up a process in my eyes that ought to take years. the cataracts grew at such a rate it freaked out my eye surgeon. poor guy, he thougth he had somehow hurt my eyes. once i explained what i felt was happening in my eyes he did a bit of research and agreed with my findings. i will have to have laser surgery at some point on both my eyes. the tissue that holds my new lenses in is hardening. the laser will blast a hole in the fiber and let the light back thru. fms is one trippy roller coaster ride. so is cmp. bizarre, interesting, facinating.

Hi Lori,
I have a multitude of symptoms, including some of yours... Leg pain has been one of my worst and was actually one of my very first symptoms. I however get the majority of my pain in my hips/thighs. It's debilitating sometimes....like someone is ripping my limbs off. I get calf tightening- which sounds like what you have- and strange sensations in my calves (sharp pains, "crawly" sensations, etc). FMS can present in SO many ways! Good luck! Hope this helped. :)

Hi there,
Leg pain is a constant for me. Mainly it's in my hips (my left hip is taking its turn now - before it was the right one!). The pain originates in my hip but travels down my leg all the way to my foot. It's my major complaint with FM - except for fatigue, of course. There's not too much I can do for the hip/leg/foot pain. Standing hurts, sitting hurts, laying in bed hurts. I have a script for Ultracet which I took once. I felt like I was on another planet so I didn't take it again. I suppose if I took it more often I would adjust to it - then I'd have to worry about it losing any effect it had. Sorry I can't be more positive for you. We all learn to live with our symptoms. Some days are better than others.
God bless, Jen
