I was wondering if anyone has had to or knows how to deal with a family member or members who are completely against you getting cosmetic surgery. I was talking to my mom about getting a tummy tuck and she started in about how general anesthesia is dangerous and should only be used for absolutely needed surgery and it was selfish to put myself in danger knowing I have my 2 kids to take care of. I didn't even know how to respond to that and now I feel so guilty for even considering it. HELP!!

I want breast implants and the excess skin off my belly due to babies. My DH is furious about it. I don't know what to do.

Hello,

I had full facial laser resurfacing and an upper Bleph (eyelid). The laser was for the revision of a scar on my face. My family was really unsupportive. My mother told me I will end up like Michael Jackson if I keep it up! My mom and sis are completely against any form of Plastic Surgery. They treated me like I was selfish and vain. You just have to ignore these comments and keep in mind what you want. You will be glad you did it and once you get better, your self-esteem will go up and hopefully your family will see the difference in your happiness. In my experience, you don't get a lot of compassion from family and friends, if you are hurting, when it comes to cosmetic surgery.

Thanks cathys42, I hear what your saying. I guess I'm just wondering is it really selfish to put myself at risk having an optional surgery when I have 2 14 month babies who rely on me for their whole world.

I just have to share my story as you know I had a tummy tuck last year I think I posted with you a few weeks ago my mom said the same thing your crazy you have three little kids what if someting happens and my dad kept saying I heard people die from that, yes some people do but it is rear I almost canceled my surgery because they made me feel guilty and one of my sisters kept saying I was crazy now she says it is a good thing you did the tummy tuck u look great and my other sister kept telling me to do it that I needed to have my flat tummy back because I was so upset with myself and my husband said he liked me the way I was but now he says it looks great you have to please yourself and believe me you will feel better about yourself I love being a size 3 again. One thing I must tell you which I think I mentioned before is you need help taking care of the kids because you cannot lift for a few weeks my mom did help me alot and my husband stayed home for a week now my mom says I look great they just worry that something can happen to us well Feb. 12th I am having breast augmentation I am nervous but after that I am done. Have you ever been under anestisia before because if you have then you know you are not alergic my girlfriend just had a tummy tuck and what a difference she looks great she was scared because she was never under and never had a surgery in her life and she has two kids but she came out of it fine. Just make sure that if you do it that you will have help. Good luck keep me posted.
