Hi Jan,
I too have the bloating going on. IBS is part of FM and it does cause the bloating. So more than likely you also have IBS.

hi jan,
i don't know if it is fms or cmp or just plain weirdness. i have the same experience. it has been going on for about 8 years. does it sometimes actually hurt? my tummy puffs up and i look pregnant. my pants suddenly shrink a size and bending becomes an issue for an hour or so. i have found eating only a tiny bit at meals and eating very slowly helps. also removing myself from everyone for a good, rather loud belch or two. being a lady i do try to dash away for that part, giggle. sometimes i don't make it so i giggle, blush, and say, my was that me? giggle.
i did have a bucket of tests done to assure nothing bad was happening. i take protonix and pepcid daily. takes away the pain, not the fullness or the symphony of air as it is bubbles up and out.
thinking back this may have started when i was having trouble eating due to nauseau. i noticed one day that i was wolfing down my food, trying to hurry before the barfy feelings came. that still happens sometimes. i pay attention now.
the test i had involved going to sleep, yea! having a little tube with a camera and such inserted down my throat for a look see. had one up the other end at the same time. i had a dream about being on a rotiserrie over a huge fire. skewered i believe is the word. bizarre. i woke up laughing and coughing. when i told the nurse why i was laughing it set the whole room off. leave em laughing.
peace,
bluelakelady

Yes, I have this. I eat about 1/2 the size of meals as I normally would. Mind you, I'm hungry two hours later. But I can't finish a plate of food anymore. I've also become very accustomed to wearing stretchy track suits instead of my tight jeans! How flattering!!
I wondered if this was an FM side effect, or a side effect of a medication (I take Zoloft and Trazodone)??

Per my Doc, Zinc deficiency can cause this. Good sources of zinc are animal protein. You can also supplement, which is what I have to do right now, and it is slowly resolving. Not sure if it is from FM or not, but what the heck, let's pile it in there with the rest.
Smaller portions more often eating of good food will help, stay away from processed foods, gosh knows what they have in them!

jollyjan,
IBS is a symptom of Fibro. IBS is bloating, pain, constipation, diarrhea, and a host of other things. Ask your doctor about your symptoms.

Bloating, nausea, feeling yucky.... it's all part of FM, I think. I very often have that overfull feeling even when I don't stuff myself. I'm learning how to eat "right" and knowing the feeling of "full." I've been on Weight Watchers for about 4 months now - lost 13 1/2 lbs so far - and always try to not eat alot at a time. Smaller, more frequent meals are best. Helps the feeling of being stuffed, and with the IBS symptoms as well.

Thank you bluelakelady <<<<bowing>>>>> .
It's taken 4 months for 13 1/2 lbs...but when I figure it took 4 years to put on 40, 4 months doesn't seem so long nor does 13 1/2 lbs seem so little. It was certainly more fun to put it on than it has been to take it off!
God bless, Jen

I actually was diagnosed with IBS prior to Fibro. I find that the bloating is almost unbearable. I am on weight watchers & eat very healthy & everything makes me bloated. It is kind of like PMS all year long!! Hee Hee. Know that you are not alone. I took Fibrocon for awhile & it really seemed to help.
