Sister 11-29-2002, 04:40 AM Can someone tell me how ovarian cancer is diagnosed? By ultrasound? Thank you. Jay Tor 11-30-2002, 05:09 PM I suggest that you look this up on cancernet, the official National Cancer Institute site. http://imsdd.meb.uni-bonn.de/cancernet/cancernet.html Diagnostic techniques can change because of improvements in technology. But unless you have a very obvious cancer-like growth [irregular shape, with lots of vascularization], it's unlikely that a positive diagnosis of cancer can be made just with ultrasound. The standard way to diagnose cancer is to do a biopsy -this means taking some tissue and examining it under a microscope. [This message has been edited by Jay Tor (edited 11-30-2002).] |
