Hello Everybody I just found this cite and read some great comments about FM. I've had it for years but its gotten worse the last couple of months. Probably due to the cold weather. I've had muscle spasms in my neck and shoulder for a month now. Dr. prescribed valium and darviset. It helps until the drugs wear off. What are people doing for mucsle spasms? Thanks!!!

welcome tim,
i do stretching, use heat and a topical pain reliever with ********* oil in it. i also sleep with a down pillow. it's all temporary. physical therapy has more lasting results than anything else i have tried. pills like you said are a temporary fix. ask your doc about pt including massage and strengthening? couldn't hurt much more than it does, right? you have fms. you already know it will pass, you just don't know when.
peace,

Be forewarned, valium can be addictive. I was on it for a year and was surprised I did not throw out the baby with the bath water. Found things in closets, cabinets, etc. that did not belong there and I was the only one to have had anything to do with the items. One day when my husband came home I broke down bawling and asked him if I had lost my mind. Apparently I had to a certain extent. I did the NO-NO and quit valium cold turkey. Fortunately did not have any repercussions, but, do not advise sudden stopping valium for anyone else.
Tread lightly with valium. A little works now and then you will need to increase the dosage over time.
