Recent diagnosis of osteoarthritis of left knee. Have had knee effusion and pain since august, allergic to ASA and NSAID's(angioedema). NOT allergic to shellfish, but have many drug, preservative and dye allergies/sensitivities.

Orthopedic doc recommended glucosamine chondroiton before doing any arthroscopy. MRI showed a tear in the lateral meniscus but he feels it is all degenerative.

Bought OsteoBiFlex, took one tablet last pm and within 20 minutes started with itchy sensation around chin and mouth then around my waist(pant line) and bottom of my feet. Woke this am with sensation of swelling on bottoms of feet and obvious mild swelling in lip and chin area.

I have researched these products to death and see no side effects listed anywhere. I am very frustrated in my attempts to relieve my pain and swelling!

I too had itching from glucosamine. I just assumed I was allergic to shellfish when it happened since I never like shellfish. There are lots of NSAIDS out there which ones have you tried? You usually don't have an allergic reaction to something on the first dose unless it is related to something else you are allergic to. Keep trying until you and your doctor find something that helps.
Good luck. Bobbie

You are prabably allergic to sulfa drugs. I have this problem and can't take anything with sulfa in the name (glucosamine sulfate). You could ask your doctor about this or get the glucosamine with out sulfa although it is harder to find.
