Were they put on at a salon? Go back to them, they will do it for like $5. Even if you did it yourself, the salon will be happy to help!

If you clipped them off, you pulled up good tight layers of nail plate which would make them appear swollen. Did you soak them off according to the directions on my website? If you did, they would be okay and the procedure wouldn't have been painful.
If they are sore, you should apply a good quality nail and cuticle oil such as Botanical Oil from the nail department of your local Sally Beauty Supply. Apply twice a day and massage into the nails and cuticles. You should see a difference in about 2-3 weeks.

if you soak your nails in acetone (nail polish remover) that will take the remaining bits of your nails off.

STRAIGHT acetone, not polish remover. Polish remover does not contain enough acetone to remove acrylic products.

my grandma bought some kind of stuff at the drugstore that dissolves the nails off... you soak your fingers in it and the artificial nails kind of get goopy and come off... this was pretty messy and took a while though! she had to soak and then file them a bit to make them smooth since it was hard to get all of it to melt off.. but maybe she didnt wait long enough.
my own experience taking off my nails was NOT fun.. and very painful. one broke and poppped off so i tried taking them ALL off. i ended up using a metal nail file to snap them off of my nail.. which PULLED at my nails, poked at them, and my nails were damaged afterwards. they were just thinner and had little white lines across them, but thew grew out and back to normal SO fast. they were way stronger after a week or so.

Oh, I'd highly recommend getting them off at a salon. Every time I try to remove mine myself, they take off most of my nail with them. Owch.
