My grandmother died from ovarian cancer when she was 29 yrs old. I have always given my dr's my family history of this. I am 27 yrs old now and is this something that my dr's should be watching more closely for? Or do they not test for things like that until you show symptoms?

Hi Snow,
Yes, your doctors will have to watch for this, as your family history will put you at some added risk for this. I think it's good to always remind your doctors of this; they see so many patients, how can they remember everything about everybody they see?

Check out this website: www.ovariancancer.org (http://www.ovariancancer.org)

If you go to www.hystersisters.com, (http://www.hystersisters.com,) you will find other resources, as well. Go to the cancer concerns board and look at the lists of stuff the moderators have posted. There will probably be lots of people there who will also know better how to answer your question.

Best of luck...
