I received a phone call early Monday morning that I had adnormalities in my pap exam. This being my first ever had me alarmed. Particularly since I have had a total hysterectomy 10 yrs. ago, leaving just my cervix. They have scheduled me for another pap exam, but it is 60 days out, saying that the pap reading would return the same results if done beforehand. They also plan on doing a coloscope at that time with possible biopsy. The "C" word did come up in the conversation, but they could not elaborate without further testing. My question is, should I try to schedule the coloscope sooner? I feel that 60 days is quite a time span if there is a problem and mentally can drive one crazy. Can anyone elaborate on my dilemma? Thank you!!

The last thing I want to do is scare you but get it done ASAP. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in May 2002 and they took my uterus and cervix and left my ovaries in. He told me that the possibility of something happening to the cervix was higher if it was left in after a Hyst. My ovaries were left in and now the right one is full of cysts. They are benign as far as I know but still they shouldnt be there. Dont be scared but do not wait 60 days ok? I am just going by what my OBGYN told me when I asked him to leave my cervix in before the hyst and that was his reasoning for taking it with the uterus.

Thank you for your support and reference. I will research this topic.
I'm due back for testing in May and will update my results.
Again, thank you for your help and advice. It's great to know that there are resources such as this for one to find comfort from others who can share in their experiences.
