Since having an adnormal pap and waiting for my follow-up procedure I have been experiencing pain when urinating. This is the 3rd time this yr. that I've had this problem and once with blood in my urine. I have not mentioned this to my GYN because I don't know if it can be related, since I haven't had a diagnosis as of yet. Is this related in any way? Has anyone had this experience? If it is related, what could it be?
Thanking you in advance for your help?

Thank you for your comforting thoughts. I will be discussing this with my Dr. when I return in a few weeks. Hopefully it's nothing.

Warm wishes back to you!

Hi MG, it sounds very much to me as though you may have an infection. I too had an abnormal pap smear in March 1998. I had to go into hospital to have dye inserted inside me. Any abnormal cells would show up with the dye. I did have cancer cells in my cervix but had treatment to remove them. Over here in England they call it hot loop diothermy. I have been absolutely fine since then, I just have to go for regular smears every three months to keep a check on things. You really should mention your symptoms to your Doctor so he/she can put your mind at rest. I hope this info has helped you in some small way. The treatment I received was completely painless, just a little uncomfortable and embarrasing. Cervical cancer is easily treated if caught early enough, so please try not to worry. Let me know how you are getting on, Ann.

Bless you Ann.

This whole ordeal has been just unbelievable. I had a total hyst. (leaving my cervix) @ age 28 and thought my problems were over. Now, 10 yrs. later I feel that it's all starting over again. I'm trying not to think about it much, but then I have this problem again. It's very painful. The pain radiates from my lower back down my legs ending with numbness and tingling in my feet. I think the old adage, "3rd times a charm," in my case time to address it with my Dr.

Thank you for sharing your story and I hope you continue to stay healthy and strong. I will update my follow-up.

Thank you again for you comfort.

You sound like you have been through a lot. I have had the Leep Procedure performed about 9 months ago...as scared as i was it was pretty painless and recovery wasn't too bad. th whole blood in the urine could indicate a urinary tract infection or a kidney infection...both of which I have had also. You can buy a home urinary tract infection monitor at any drug store but ultimately you will need to go to the doctor to obtain antibiotics. A kidney infection can be very very painful and lead to dehydration and severe lower back pain...i was hospitalized with mine and put on IV's. You should really tell your doctor if you experience these symptoms. Little things can help....make sure you always pee after sex and drink plenty of cranberry juice regularly. I truly hope you feel better. Good luck and take care.
