Hi... I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago (ovaries were left...all other things removed) and have never had an abnormal pap. I got a call to come have another pap because I came back level 2..moderate. I have no cervix.. Can it still be cancer ? What do you think ? Thanks...

Hi Bulldogmom,
Are you sure they took the cervix? Sometimes they leave the cervical stump; in fact, a lot of doctors do. Otherwise, I'm unsure why you are still having PAP's.
I'm sure you will be calling your doctor's office in the morning for clarification and more information. Perhaps tonight you could write down all your questions so you don't forget them in the anxiety of the moment when you call. Don't forget to ask for a copy of your surgical report at some point, so you know just what was removed. Good luck....

Thanks WP... I ASSUMED all was removed. I had been told "I left your ovaries because they were ok". I have no idea if there was any stump left. I will try to contact the doc who did my hys. about my records. This is a different doc I saw now.

Hi bdmom,
I hope you are well on your way to getting answers and reassurances about what is happening to you. I know next to nothing about the dysplasia, but it appears that it can be treated by cryotherapy, laser ablation, or the LEEP procedure. Healthboards has a great search program, so you can look for who else has had these procedures, and you may notice the large number of discussions about the LEEP that are going on right now.
Another thing I never noticed here at healthboards until very recently; if you go to the main Cancer: Breast, Cervical & Ovarian page, look at the blue header just above the list of topics. You will see in red, "Helpful Info", then click on the "Resource Links". There are lots of links there that may be of help to you. Not all the boards have these links, but this board has a lot.
Hope you're having a good day...
