Hi! I'm new to the board, but you all seem great posters, so I thought I'd ask a question.
I've had CFS for a little under a year now (from what I can tell, diagnosed 3 months ago). In that time, I seem to have developed an allergy to cakes, bread and the like - my whole head becomes itchy and feels very hot just as I'm eating these things, and then goes away - no other symptons of the allergy.
Any ideas as to what it is? I'm a 15 yo male, by the way.
Thanks.

I also have a CFS-like illness, but haven't been officially diagnosed. Since I developed my illness, I developed a million and one food allergies. I actually got allergy testing, and was only truly "allergic" to a couple of things (allergic=IgE mediated response) and my doctor said I had a ton of food intolerances. Many say that food intolerances cause only gastric/stomach upset and headaches, but I know differently. I have went into anaphylactic shock MANY times with year (luckily mild-moderate anaphylaxis) and it was never a true "allergen" that caused the anaphylaxis, but an intolerance instead. I stongly believe I have a systemic yeast overgrowth problem called Candida, and Candida is known to cause MANY food allergies and intolerances to suddenly appear. Wheat was the first thing I became allergic to. Candida also can cause all of the symptoms of CFS, and sometimes when people are diagnosed with CFS, it's really Candida. I stongly suggest you do a search on Candidiasis and it's symptoms. Also, you should look up "rotation diets" or allergy "elimination diets" to find out what foods you are intolerant to. I have to constantly be on a special diet to control my symptoms, but changing my diet was the only thing that stopped me from getting severe allergic reactions.
Good luck!:)

Hello,
It certainly is true that candida can cause these symptoms...You mentioned the first thing you became allergic to was wheat...Well, actually candida is mainly a symptom of gluten intolerance...You have it backwards...Gluten intolerance causes many different things..Including candida overgrowth...People seem to treat candida and that's the wrong approach...The gluten needs to be excluded and only then will the candida become under control...Plus, there might be something else going on, maybe some type of infection...Get off gluten entirely for 6 mos and see what happens...I can almost guarantee that the candida "symptoms" will disappear...Take care..

Hi thomas3000,
You're right, Candida often is a symptom of gluten intolerance. I have been COMPLETELY gluten free for almost 9 months now, and although ALL of the mental symptoms went away, as well as SOME of the physical, I'm still sick. My depression, my panic attacks that started to come back, and even my Obsessive-Compulsive thoughts are GONE, and disappeared soon after the removal of the gluten. Also, I had severe low blood sugar attacks several times a day, even after EATING, and those also disappeared upon the removal of the gluten. My personal theory is that my intestines are severely damaged, and that I have the so-called, "leaky guy syndrome." I also think there is some type of infection going on, and I'm going to investigate Lyme's Disease. I actually just got health insurance back as of March 1st, so I'm going to get all the tests that I can.
Thanks!:)

What I meant to write is " Please if you know of something that has worked for you, surely the administrators would let you share with both Katalina and myself.....Maybe you could ask them. I am looking for clues; perhaps if they will not let you share the name (I am sure there are reasons not to share stuff like that, and certainly don't want to question anything about the managament of this wonderful website)...If they say no....maybe you could drop some clues like say what exactly to type into a search engine....I've seen some people do that; maybe that's allowed. Thank you.

Hello,
I did give a clue before and they caught it...If the moderator reads this, maybe he/she will let me help some people...I truly can help, since I have pretty much witnessed people who reversed many different types of illness, from every aspect...Cancer/autoimmune, etc.....CFS is not a disorder in itself...It's a consequence of something else, and the underlying cause must be addressed....Gluten is a biggie, and an underlying issue in many cases....I truly want to help you and many others, but they simply won't let me...The only thing i could really tell you, is that the damage must be reversed...Not my pumping meds into people, but building up the immune system, to be able to fight off disease..."Let thy food be thy medicine" Eat organic foods only, and also buy poultry that has not been shot up with antibiotics and steroids..Plenty of fruits and veggies.. This will stimulate the healing process...But we have to remember, it took a long time for the damage to be done, so lets be patient..It takes a while for the immune system to strengthen and for healing to take place... So, basically you need to take whatever stress that is on your body and get rid of it...Coffee is a big no no, because it works the adrenal glands too hard...Drink lots of pure water also...
