I was diagnosed with fibrocystic breasts earlier this year. During my monthly self exam I always have a hard time detecting possible lumps because they get terribly confused with several cysts present in both breasts: how can I be sure that what I find is actually nothing to worry about? I cannot schedule sonograms on a monthly basis (have already had two). Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I suffer these also. Usually cysts repeat themselves. You probably will have mammograms every six months, to check. Cysts can be hard as well as fluid filled. So I am not worried anymore, as cancer usually does not occur where cysts are located. The Fibro in Fibrocystic means its fibrous tissue. Which means cancer should not invade that kind of tissue. Cancer usually heads for where it can grow. I am not saying you can't get cancer but I doubt it would even manifest and survive under these conditions.
