Dear C.R. -

Wondering about your daughter. How has she been lately? Hope you will check in and see this message. Hoping the Floudrocort is still doing the trick for her. Is she back to her cheerleading? Thanks! ~ Tracy

Hi, she doesnt want to do cheerleading, really dont know y. The florin is helping alot. If she doesnt take it by 10:00 in the morning she is dizzy and white as a ghost. Hows your son doin? Anything working for him yet?
I sure hope so. Its tough for a kid to feel sick and tired all the time.

Hi! Glad it is helping her! Not to be negative in any way, but keep in mind something for the future (hope you won't need it, though!). I've read that hypoaldosteronism CAN be a FIRST sign of adrenal insufficiency coming on. I'm sure it does not always signify the rest of the adrenal gland's failing. Just thought I'd better mention it. Travis doesn't get much relief from taking the Florinef, and can't tell the difference if he has 1/2 pill, no pill or whole pill! Frustrating. We're planning a few more tests, if the doctor will agree. Then in July, we plan to go to CA and take him to a great doctor we've hear about there. Good to still be in touch! Hope the year is going well for your daughter! How are YOU feeling? ~ Tracy

Sorry to here you are still fighting this. Im glad the Florenif is helping her, there are so many other 'issues' that teenagers have, its nice not to worry about that. Its going to be interesting this summer/fall when they take her off for a month or two, they want to see what happens. I think I can already tell them she is going to have a problem. As it is right now if she misses a dose of med she gets dizzy. There have been a few days that I needed to bring her med to school so she could take it because she forgot and end up passing out in the hallway, her friends get her to the nurse and they call me.
She is learning NOT to forget it. She doesnt like passing out at school.

Take care and let me know how it goes in CA. I sure hope they help you.

As far as I go...I dont have time to think about it. I am better than I was though.

Hi, Janice! Sorry I didn 't see your post until today (Mar. 8)! Glad to hear Carmen is doing better. It sure sounds as if her need for the Florinef is dramatic. Makes you wonder what else could be wrong, though, doesn't it? Have they retested her BP's while on the Florinef or her potassium and sodium levels to make sure her potassium is still O.K. despite the Florinef. Trav's BP's went too far up on the .1 Flodrocort, so we're now giving him .05. Doesn't seem to make a difference to the way he feels whether he takes it or forgets it one day! Hoping you will both be in good health over vacation, etc. ~ Tracy

Hey ya. Carmens bp has been normal since starting this med. Every test they have done since have come back normal.
She was telling me the other day that she feels that she will prob need this med for a while, she doesnt want the doc to pull her off it. She also told me " How did I go for so long feeling that way."
Take care

Good! I'm glad she sees the improvement she does. Sorry she needs meds, but maybe now she also sees more clearly YOUR reasoning for taking her to doctor appointment after doctor appointment -- for her own good. Sometimes it'a hard for us to see oursevles or our own needs the way those who love us do! Good news! ~ Tracy

Just a up date. DD has been put on a med for depression. Some of her being tired all the time was from that. This is really weird, shes back to being her goofy self. She is still taking the florif also, she still cant go without it. At least for now.

If you dont hear from me again too soon, have a nice summer.
I have a new job that is going to be keeping me real busy.
I will try to get back in a month or so and see how you and yours are doing.
Take care

Thanks for the update! Glad she is doing so much better. Funny, they say that some of the antidepressent meds can work in other ways, as well. So it is hard to tell what they may be doing for your daughter. One doctor wanted to give it to Trav for his orthostatic hypotension, as he thought it might alter OTHER chemicals, other than the seratonin, and help his condition. We were afraid of the antidepressents, in case they were to alter his personality. We also kept seeing all of the recent stories about antidepressents being linked to teen suicides. Apparently in some kids, they can produce feelings of supreme anxiety, and figitiness, which lead to random acts of self harm. I'm sure it is relatively uncommon, but nevertheless, many of the meds have been taken off the market (I believe) in Europe, and are under investigation here in the U.S. Just a scary thought to us, when Travis doesn't seem to display actual signs of depression and HAS low aldosterone for sure, and possibly low thyroid function. Best wishes, Tracy

The doc that put her on it wasnt too worryied about the "black box" they have put on some antidepressants. Shes on celexa. I was told to watch her for any down hill behavior. I had to call the doc after one week and then she had a recheck appt at two weeks.
I know they can be scarry but, if you know what to watch for you would see if there were any signs of self hurt. Im sure you know your son well enough to see if he was showing signs of hurting himself. Not to tell you what to do but maybe it would be worth it to try for a week or two. It only took my DD 3 days to feel the differance. I know all people are differant but it still maybe worth a shot.
Ill keep in touch as much as possable.
Take care.

Great, and thanks for writing back to fill us in! I am taking Travis to a doctor out of town (might have already written about this) June 13. Will see what he has to say. He thinks it may be thyroid and adrenal. Will keep you posted!
~ Tracy
