Hi the doctor wants my daughter to do this 72 hour fecal fat test. Has anyone or their children ever had to do this? I know it involves collecting stool for 72 hours. This sounds very unpleasant. What were your expereinces with it, and was it that bad? Any info would help.

I know DS was tested in the NICU by the dietician, but when I asked his doctor about it he basically told us the test wasn't needed because they already KNEW that he needed to have enzymes for digestion.

We did do the fecal fat test when our daughter was newborn. It involved scrapping the fecal matter from her diaper with a tongue depressor into an empty can supplied by the hospital. It was simple enough to do, but, as you can imagine, not the most pleasant task.
