My doctor thinks I might have IBS. It all started around the time I got a chronic fissure that needed to be corrected via surgery (a LIS). It was probably bad diet, and maybe IBS that caused the thing to begin with.

The fissure is gone, but the spasms never stopped. I have 2 problems now

1. Rectal spasms on and off during the day.
2. Gas from hell.

The spasms seem to be getting a llittle better, but the GAS is out of this world. I thought initially it was from fiber supplements, but even after going off the supplement for a few days, the gas remains. It isn't painful gas, just annoying as hell. Most of it is in my lower intestines, where it rolls around, gurgles, and comes out slowly during the day. Doesn't usually smell bad. it's almost like someone took a air hose to my backside.

I never had the gas problem until about 5 months ago. I see that spasms and gas are symptoms of IBS, so I came here. My doctor gave me a prescription for Dyclyclomine yesterday, but I've only taken one pill.

Does anyone else here have this problem? It sometimes feels like my colon is full and I have to have a BM. Then I pas gas, and the process starts all over again.

Hi Chiggins,
I too have the terrible gas and bloating, and it sometimes feels like I have alot of pressure on my rear and like I need to have a bm. I also have terrible spasms in my lower stomach when the IBS acts up. This process will go on sometimes for 3 weeks to a month and then I'll start to feel better for a while and here it will come again. I hope this helps you feel better, but I am not a doctor so I can't tell you if yours is IBS. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
